In ceramics, glazing is where forms find more of their story; where the bisque-fired vessel becomes the canvas for play, reflection, and personal expression. In this class, you'll explore the art of glazing and surface decoration. Staring by choosing from a selection of thoughtfully made, wheel-thrown and handbuilt pieces, all crafted in-house at VARA Studios. These are not mass-produced blanks, but individual forms, each with their own subtle gestures, inviting you to respond with colour and mark.
You’ll be guided through underglaze techniques like painting, layering, and intuitive design in a relaxed and welcoming space. No prior clay experience is needed. This session is less about precision, more about presence. You’re encouraged to come as you are and create without pressure.
Once your piece is complete, it will be finished with a clear glaze and fired in the kiln. Your one-of-a-kind creation will be ready for pickup in 2-3 weeks.
